Training
Who can teach Stave House?
School teachers, nursery teachers, music teachers and parents can all train in Stave House. It is so versatile that many non-music specialists find that after training in levels 1 and 2 training, are confident to impart the musical skills of sight reading, composition and performance at this level.
Stave House is a resource endorsed by many music specialists because it presents the more complex concepts of notation and music theory in a way that children of all abilities can grasp.
How can I train to become a Stave House teacher?
You can train to become a Stave House teacher by purchasing the online training from the Stave House Hub, our training platform. Everything you need in order to learn the method and complete your assessment to become a licensed teacher can be found here, including video lessons, manuals, and downloadable audio tracks to use with your pupils. Once you purchase the training, you have lifetime access allowing you to re-watch the content in order to refresh your learning. Once you complete the training you can book in your assessment. If you pass this assessment you are now able to start teaching. If there are any areas in which you do not pass the assessment, you will receive support from Stave House in order to help you reach the required standard.
DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE ALL LEVELS OF TRAINING?
No, you can train in some or all of the levels of Stave House. Each level is available to buy separately. Some schools focus on levels 1 and 2, whilst others go all the way to level 4 depending on how much time is given to music within the curriculum and which classes are using the method.
How do I book group training?
In-person group training can be arranged on request. You can host a course in your area or at your school. Please get in touch for more information.
Will I receive any additional support during my training?
Yes, the course purchase includes a 1:1 session with creator and founder of Stave House, Ruth Travers to go through any areas of the training and ask any questions prior to the assessment. Students are also welcome to contact us for support through the office at any point during their training.
Will I receive support once my training is complete?
Yes! We like to provide ongoing support to all our teachers in the UK and worldwide. Once you complete your assessment and receive your license you can join our exclusive Facebook membership where you can connect with other teachers, share ideas, ask questions and receive additional resources from Stave House.
Licensing
what is the license fee?
The license fee is paid annually by licensed teachers and schools in order to be able to run the programme and access support. This fee is waived if the teacher or school enters 12 students for a Stave House award in the corresponding year.
Requirements of a licensed Stave House teacher
All students of private music teachers have their own Stave House materials to use at home. Schools and nurseries must equip their classrooms with Stave House materials, ideally at a 1:1 ratio but if not 1:2. Licensed teachers are encouraged to enter children for the Stave House Awards each year.
What's the Difference between a licensed and Qualified teacher?
Licensed – has completed Stave House Training
Qualified – has attended advanced training and has achieved the LCM Stave House Early years Music teaching Diploma.
Licensed school – uses the Stave House method in school, taught by trained teachers.
Diploma & Trainer Status
What is the stave house diploma?
The Stave House Diploma is an advanced qualification that allows teachers to become ambassadors of the programme and run their own training. This is particularly useful for teachers overseas who may want to train others in their locality.
What are the benefits of having the Diploma?
You can become a paid Stave House assessor for the Stave House awards.
