The Augmented Society Network & RSA
The research paper ‘An Opportunity to Reimagine Learning’ has recently been published by the Augmented Society Network and the RSA. It’s the result of a collaboration of people from across the globe coming together to share their knowledge and create a discussion on reimagining education and we are very proud that Stave House founder and RSA fellow, Ruth Travers was invited to contribute.
As a result of the pandemic and it’s huge effect on education, the two societies came together to re-evaluate how children could seek and absorb knowledge in the future. Over the course of a year, they worked to identify the aspects of education that were, in their words, ‘ripe’ for reimagining.
“The pandemic’s forced halt to the status quo, culminating in lockdowns, remote learning and the instant disappearance of entire industries, made every one of us to take stock and recognise that wholesale change is required for all of society to enjoy sustained, meaningful growth.”
Ruth was delighted to have been asked to contribute and if you can spare the time it is well worth taking a look (see link below). It’s a deep read, but fascinating, informative and thought provoking for both parents and educators.
The research resonated so much with Stave House because of our long-standing desire to change the way children are taught music, especially in schools. We are also followers of the idea that we need to stop giving children the answers, instead equipping them with the tools to discover knowledge and skills themselves. This is a fundamental element of the Stave House method – creating musicians yes, but at the same time supporting and developing independent thinkers.
